Connected, Safe & Empowered: The Texas Foster Youth Health initiative (2020-Present)

The Texas Foster Youth Health Initiative (TFYHI) builds relationships across child welfare and adolescent health systems to promote optimal health for child welfare-involved youth. In partnership with the Texas Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy and the Texas Alliance of Child and Family Services, the Texas Foster Youth Health Initiative will establish, fund, coordinate, and support a multidisciplinary network of community partners to develop and test cutting edge sexual health interventions for youth and their caregivers. These community partners include Healthy Futures of Texas and the North Texas Alliance to Reduce Unintended Pregnancy in Teens (Ntarupt).

As Communications lead of this project, I developed the communications strategy and visual identity of this project which has been translated to develop a project website holding various videos, a project newsletter, several progress reports, and training and resources for caregivers and youth. At the beginning of the project during the planning phase, we utilized personas to develop key differentiators and messages to present to the public.

In 2022, I will continue to develop the visual design of this project by leading the branding and design of a youth curriculum. This process will include several focus groups with youth and working closely with a young artist to make sure the brand of this curriculum is designed by the people the work is for.
